Alexi Tan was educated in London and in NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. He started his career as a stills photographer.
In 2000, Alexi directed his first short film, 17.17., a six-minute experimental short which premiered at the Brooklyn International Film Festival. With this first exposure to the film world, he discovered where his true passion lies.
In 2002, Alexi moved to Asia to pursue a career in film directing more seriously. He started to direct TV commercials and music videos and have since won many international awards.
In 2003, Alexi directed DOUBLE BLADE, a 15-minute short film shot entirely in LA. Starring Taiwanese pop sensation Jay Chou and a Hollywood cast featuring Leila Arcieri and Danny Trejo, it boasts a crew composed of Andrzej Sekula, the cinematographer of PULP FICTION.
DOUBLE BLADE subsequently caught the attention of filmmakers John Woo and Terence Chang, who are producing his first feature film, BLOOD BROTHERS, a Mandarin language film to be shot entirely in Shanghai.
