Weary of work, Tokio comes to Hong Kong for good food. He meets a 15-year-old girl, Wai. Her parents have emigrated to Canada, and Wai is left behind in Hong Kong with her 80-year-old Granny and her cat.
Tokio bumps into a Japanese woman, who turns out to be the elder sister of his first lover. He makes love to her, and arranges to see her again - but he does not show up. He finds himself more interested in Granny's cooking.
Wai is secretly in love with a boy in school but is reluctant to show her passion, for fear she can't handle the situation when it's time to emigrate. Tokio encourages her. One day, she asks the boy to go out.
Granny has fallen ill and is in hospital. Wai decides to spend a night with the boy in an outlying island. Tokio agrees to take care of granny. He discovers the secret of Granny's cooking, and that Granny has known all along Wai's father is not taking her to Canada.
